HOW TO JOIN
FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
We would love to have you as a member of First United Methodist Church! We believe that any baptized person is baptized into the “whole” church. Any person who has been confirmed or joined a church has joined the whole church. The local church is where we are fed and challenged to grow as disciples. There is a place for you at First United Methodist Church!
You may join the church any Sunday. You may join by transfer of membership if you have an active membership in a church somewhere. You may have your membership restored if you have no active membership. If you have never joined a church, you may join by professing your own faith in Jesus Christ. If you have never been baptized, we would be thrilled to share in that exciting time with you.
Profession of Faith and Baptism
If you have never joined a church before, we will receive you by profession of faith. If you have not been baptized, we will be happy to baptize you. We will ask you to repent of your sin, receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, and if you intend to lead a Christian life. When you answer "I do" to these questions, you have made your profession of faith. We will also ask you to be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, and your service. Your answer is "I will." |
